What’s Growing and Cooking at UofT!

IMG_2920

On Saturday November 17th Dig In! hosted a leadership retreat at Hart House Farm to get to know some of the other food and environment focused groups on campus. There are so many great groups out there trying to give the environment a helping hand, but sometimes there is a lack of connection between all of them. DigIn! wanted to see if we could bridge some of this divide by inviting groups out to the farm to get to know each other, and also make some great vegan food and help out a little with the gardens.

The groups that came out included the Hart House Farm Committee, Hot Yam, Victoria College Community Garden Committee, the Ecology and Spirituality Club, U of T Bees, Harvest Noon, Occupy Gardens, UTERN, UNDP, and the Woodsworth Environmental Team. Everyone had the chance to say a little bit about their groups, including the major events that they hold, and what their hopes are in the future.  It was great to see the areas where we could all work together, and create partnerships for food, information and event sharing.

We definitely want to keep these new partnerships going through social media and by having some more meetings and retreats in the future.

Hopefully sometime this winter we’ll find ourselves back at the farm around a fire chatting about new events and eating some more s’mores!
