A cornucopia of great events and workshops coming up this week!

Solar Food Dehydrator Workshop Monday, July 11th, 5pm Galbraith Building (35 St. George Street), Room #217

The Food and Water Institute, along with the Sky Garden and James Davis from Foodshare, are pleased to announce an upcoming workshop on solar food dehydration and building solar food dryers!

The workshop will include information on solar food dehydration as well as the chance to participate in building a large solar food dryer.

Registration is FREE but mandatory as space is limited. Please RSVP at: http://www.civil.engineering.utoronto.ca/news/garden.htm

New College Community Garden – Groundbreaking! Tuesday, July 12th, 10am New College (South-east corner of Wilson Hall, north-west corner of Willcocks & Huron streets)

The New College Community Garden is ready for action! This new garden will be accessible to a wide range of student groups and organizations – come check it out, and get involved! We’ll be doing our first planting on the 12th, which will serve as a great orientation for interested community members.

Dig In! Garden Workday Wednesday, July 13th 3p – 4p (Hart House – Southern Plot) 4p – 5p (Sid Smith / Willcocks)

We’re doing a large-scale garden cleanup this coming Wednesday, before we settle into a more regular maintenance groove for the rest of the summer. Edible Weeds Walking Tour Friday, July 15th, 11am – 1pm Departing from the Green Barn – 601 Christie Street, Suite 181

Join The Stop’s Community Garden Coordinator Mandy Ridley for a two-hour Edible Weeds Walking Tour of the Green Barn neighbourhood. Learn how to spot pigweed, lamb’s quarters, dandelions and other garden secrets. This is a free tour –  please call Mandy Ridley at 416 651 7867 ext 25 to register
